Everywhere you look, school staff are going above and beyond for their students. We want to take this opportunity to thank our amazing Vilas staff for all the hard work they put in every day. Whether it's waking up early, staying up late, or taking time out of their own lives, our school staff are always there, willing and eager to help our students. From our teachers to our librarians and support staff, we are so fortunate to have such dedicated, passionate individuals supporting our children’s education. Thank you Vilas School staff!

We would like to express our deepest and sincerest appreciation to the incredible staff at Vilas School. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work are truly commendable, as they strive each day to provide our students with quality education and support. We are so thankful to have such an amazing team of teachers and staff members who go above and beyond to ensure our children succeed.
We are so grateful to the Campo School for welcoming us into their home and providing students from the Vilas School with a unique learning opportunity. We are having an amazing week! Some students are immersing themselves in the world of performing arts, while others are participating in various hands-on projects and problem-solving activities. It has been a bonding experience that truly embraces the spirit of community. Don't forget to join us at the Campo School Gym this Friday, May 12th, 2023, at 6:00 pm for the play they have been rehearsing this week! A community potluck dinner will follow.
It’s time to celebrate! All are welcome to the Vilas School Graduation on Sunday, May 21st, 2023, at 2:00 pm. 🎉 There will be a graduation party after in the concession area. Join us as we celebrate Freedom and her accomplishments!

Ready, set, go!
Next week, our Vilas students will be traveling to and from Campo for auditions, rehearsals, and project-based learning activities. Students will leave each day after eating breakfast and return by 4:00 pm. The JH & HS students will stay for project-based learning activities, while the elementary students will return to Vilas after student rehearsals each day. Preschool students will not be participating and will have normal activities.

Senior Spotlight!
Freedom Waalkes is the 18-year-old daughter of Bobby Waalkes and the late Rebecca Waalkes of Springfield, CO. Freedom will be attending the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF). She will be majoring in Creative Writing and is a member of their Honors Program. Her goal is to obtain a degree and someday become an author. Freedom has always enjoyed reading books and has a love for writing. When asked what she is most excited about, she says, "I am excited to see new things, travel, and experience life outside of Baca County."

They say, “Be Our Guest!” Our amazing students did just that. A big congratulations to everyone who brought “Beauty and the Beast” to life on Sunday! It was an absolute blast with all the amazing costumes, incredible set design, and talented actors! We are beyond proud of our county students' incredible talent - if you couldn't make it, here's a sneak peek of what you missed out on! 🤩🎭
We're excited to partner with Campo School District to participate in the Missoula Children's Theatre program. Students from K-12th grade will have the opportunity to be part of a theatrical program, learning about acting, stage presence, lighting and sound, costumes, and more! Students will audition, practice, and perform the play "Aladdin" in the span of four days. Students will practice during school hours from May 8th-11th. The dress rehearsal and public performance will take place on May 12th. Theatrical workshops for interested students will be held on May 13th. 🎭More information will be coming soon!🎭
Ready, set, go! 🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ Sunday was a rainbow of fun in Springfield! 🌈 The Vilas Student Council hosted a Color-A-Thon event, with approximately 30 people participating in a 5K. 🏃♂️ It was a great event, and we are incredibly grateful to all who participated and helped make it happen. 🤩
